Housing is one of the basic human needs. It impacts the happiness, lifestyle, self-esteem, and productivity of individuals. Adequate housing delivery in urban areas has been a considerable challenge for national governments in many developing countries, and Ghana is no exception. Provision of affordable housing for the low and middle class income groups has become one of the major developmental challenges faced by government.
“The country has been faced with challenges for many years in trying to solve the housing situation through several programs and policies but to no avail. The consequences have resulted in a housing deficit of well over one million houses”, Ebenezer Afrane et al (2016).

In 2019, the government of Ghana, (client) contracted Giant Ideas Limited and Vitalux Limited to provide affordable housing units across the length and breadth of Ghana – requesting to be constructed for sell, 200,000 housing units. The Contract duration – to last for 120 months from the date of commencement.
One of the major problems faced by Ghanaians is high cost of houses. According to Oxford business group, “A shortage of affordable housing has created a market for technologically advanced, low-cost, sustainable solutions”. Seeking to partner with a suitable investor/contractors to provide financing and execute the project under special arrangements, the Vistalux Limited/Giants Ideas Limited team accepted the request of Karabow construction and engineering limited to take over and provide a solution to Ghana by financing and providing the expertise, technical know-how, precast concrete construction technology to fast deliver the two hundred thousand (200,000) housing units on the 25th of August 2020. These housing units would be located at the Wisdom Kwati City in Ghana, spreading across all it’s 16 regions.

Wisdom Kwati City is offering affordable precast smart houses using majorly local labor force and materials which would solve the problem of high cost of housing due to importation of labor and materials – hence make them affordable for the middle class income group. This is in view of one of the visions of Karabow – to deliver 10,000,000 housing units across Africa by 2030 within the Wisdom Kwati City project. “We plan to launch ‘AFRICA HOUSING FOR ALL’ in order to solve the housing problems within Africa”, Wisdom Kwati.
