A GoFundMe page set up to gather money for the legal costs of troubled actor Olanrenwaju Omiyinka, alias Baba Ijesha, has been pulled down.

Indecent treatment of a child, defilement of a child, sexual assault by penetration, attempted sexual assault by penetration, and sexual assault were all filed against the actor under sections 135, 137, 261, 202, 262, and 263 of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.

However, a supporter in Ireland, Oladele Matti, has set up a fundraising with the goal of earning €50,000 to help Olanrewaju Omiyinka with legal costs.

Explaining the reason behind organising the fundraiser for the distressed actor, Matti said, “Hi, my name is Oladele Matti and I am fundraising for Olanrewaju Omiyinka aka Baba Ijesha legal costs. A gesture of support/goodwill/solidarity to assist with the legal costs of a complicated and lengthy process that will likely offer the best chance of successfully obtaining fairness and justice.”

The move caused controversy online, with many people questioning why the actor was granted such help.

On Monday, our correspondent went to the website and discovered that the page was missing.

GoFundMe is an American for-profit crowdfunding platform that allows people to raise money for events ranging from life events such as celebrations and graduations to challenging circumstances like accidents and illnesses, according to Wikipedia.
