Chidimma Blessing Ekume, a dedicated advocate for women’s empowerment, is making a significant impact on the lives of young girls in Nigeria through her Go-Girl Advocacy and Empowerment Foundation. This foundation is at the forefront of addressing vital issues such as female advocacy, gender-based violence, and female education. One of its most prominent campaigns is the Knowledge For Every Girl (K.E.G) initiative, which is currently focused on the theme, “Now that I Have My Period, What Must I Know?”

The Knowledge For Every Girl (K.E.G) initiative is a core program of the Go-Girl Foundation. This school based campaign is designed to educate and empower young girls on various critical issues. While the current theme focuses on menstrual/hormonal health and hygiene, the initiative is versatile, addressing a wide range of topics relevant to female advocacy.

Under the theme, “Now that I Have My Period, What Must I Know?” the K.E.G initiative has successfully reached over 2,000 girls across more than five schools in Eti-Osa, Lagos. The program provides practical education on menstrual/hormonal health, teaching girls about the stages of the menstrual cycle, how to manage physical and mental changes, and addressing period poverty by distributing sanitary materials such as pads and wipes.

K.E.G is more than just a program; it’s a movement to empower young girls with the knowledge they need to navigate adolescence with confidence and dignity,” says Chidimma. “Our goal is to continue evolving the initiative to cover broader topics like gender equality and mental health, always with the focus on giving girls the tools they need to thrive.

The Go-Girl Foundation’s work is challenging societal norms and creating safe spaces for open conversations about female health. Chidimma’s vision extends beyond the immediate success of K.E.G; she aims to expand the foundation’s reach, tackling issues such as gender-based violence and promoting female education across Nigeria.

The foundation’s impact is being carefully measured through surveys, feedback, and strategic partnerships with NGOs, health organizations, and corporate sponsors. These collaborations are crucial to ensuring the sustainability and growth of the initiative, allowing it to continue making a positive difference in the lives of young girls.

Chidimma’s story is one of passion, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to making a difference. Through the Go-Girl Advocacy and Empowerment Foundation, she is not just changing individual lives; she is shifting societal mindsets and paving the way for a generation of empowered young women.
