Federal Government approves reopening of four additional land borders

The Federal Government on Friday approved the reopening of four additional land borders shut in August 2019 as part of efforts to curtail smuggling and boost local production of rice.
A circular released by the Nigeria Customs Service, signed by Deputy Comptroller-General E. I. Edorhe, on behalf of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Hameed Ali, listed the borders as Idiroko border post in Ogun State, Jibiya border post in Katsina State, Kamba border post in Kebbi State and Ikom border post in Cross River State.
The circular titled, ‘Re-opening of four additional Nigerian border posts’ sighted by Saturday PUNCH read, “Sequel to the Presidential directive dated December 16, 2020, granting approval for phased reopening of land borders namely; Mfum, Seme, Illela and Maigatari borders across the country, I am directed to inform you that four additional borders listed below have been approved for re-opening.
“Idiroko border post, Ogun State (South-West Zone); Jibiya border post, Katsina State (North-West Zone); Kamba border post, Kebbi State (North-West Zone); and Ikom border post, Cross River State (South-South Zone).
Consequently, all Customs formations and Joint Border Patrol Teams are to take note and ensure that proper manning takes place in compliance with extant operational guidelines.”
The circular, which copied all Assistant Comptrollers-General/Zonal Coordinators, Area Controllers, Comptroller, Federal Operations Unit & Marine Commands, Comptroller, Customs Intelligent Unit, JBPT Sector Coordinators, Strike Force Commanders and Heads of Units, added, “Above is forwarded for your information and compliance.”

It is not clear when Apollonia’s relationship with Prince began or ended as he was dating another one of the stars of Purple Rain during the making of
the film, Susan Moonsie.
Prince and Beyonce famously joined forces onstage at the 2004 Grammy Awards, performing a medley that included his iconic
1984 single Purple Rain.
Their duet also included her fan favorite number Crazy In Love, which saw him accompany her on the electric guitar.
Afterwards, Prince gave an interview in which he shared his appraisal of Beyonce’s musical
abilities when they worked together.
‘I was really curious as to how much she knew musically, and I was really pleased to find out that she knew a
lot about scales – Mixolydian scales and Egyptian styles and different things like that,’ he said.
‘And I was just trying to show her some chords on the piano and
help her to respect the fact that if she learns piano à la
Aretha Franklin and Ray Charles and things like that, the sky’s the limit
as to what she could do, ’cause she’s so very talented.’
Prince died of an accidental overdose in 2016 at the
age of just 57.

Lady Gaga is set to release her seventh studio album in February.
Despite lead single Disease stalling on the Hot 100 at
No. 27, the 38-year-old is forging ahead with her next album, which she
described as both ‘fun’ and ‘darker.’
Speaking to Vogue magazine about the project, Gaga said that she’s been focused on the production side
of her new songs.
‘I love producing — I always have — and something that was
really important to me making my seventh studio album was blending live instrumentation with programming,’ she explained.
‘The album is chaotic from a genre perspective — it is genre-bending, and
I think in that way is a deeply personal look into my mind as a producer and the way I think about music.’
She also said that the album has a ‘darker pop’ sound that’s more in line with her iconic 2009 album,
The Fame Monster.
However, fans need not be worried that Gaga
is going too somber with her sound.
‘The album is not extremely serious in that it’s very fun and
meant to be enjoyed at a party, in a club, or at home having personal fun time — to be free
of your worries at home or walking through life,’ she insisted.
Lady Gaga is focused on releasing her seventh studio album this February following the disappointing
reception to lead single Disease
Gaga released the album’s lead single Disease last month to rave reviews from music
critics, who lauded it as a return to the star’s roots.
Unfortunately, the acclaim failed to translate to the charts, with Disease debuting at No.
27 on the Hot 100 – her worst entry for a lead single in 16 years.
On the bright side, Gaga is currently enjoying one of her biggest hits in years thanks
to her Bruno Mars duet, Die With a Smile.
The ballad has so far reached No. 2 on the Hot 100
and No. 1 on the Pop Airplay Chart.
It comes after Gaga’s leading role in the disastrous Joker: Folie à Deux.
The follow-up to the Oscar-winning 2019 film, starring Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur
Fleck (Joker) and Gaga as Lee Quinzel (Harley Quinn),
faced negative reviews from critics before its October 4
release and flopped at the box office.
Tim, 39, who played a guard at Arkham Asylum in the movie, said Todd Philips’s new
film has ‘no plot’ and admitted he knew it was ‘going to bomb’ while filming.
Speaking on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Tim said: ‘It’s the worst film ever made.

crap and I’d go, “What the f*** is this?” And they’d go, “This is going to bomb, man.”
I go, “This is the worst thing I’ve ever seen.”
‘We were talking about it at lunch, and we’d go, “What is the plot? Is there a plot? I don’t know, I think he falls in love with her in the prison?” It’s not even hate-watchable.
That’s how terrible it is.’

The highly anticipated Joker sequel hit theaters on Friday, but was almost immediately panned by viewers and critics
For a few seconds, the two stars sat in silence as they both waited for the other to answer the question.
‘Tell them how you feel, Joaquin,’ Lady Gaga, 38, said to her costar as she held out a fake microphone in front of him.
‘It’s so hard to talk about but I think we feel like
we achieved what we set out to do,’ Joaquin, 49, simply stated.
Someone on X, formerly Twitter, posted the moment online last week and it went viral,
gaining more then 437,000 views in a matter of days – and many users took their initial silence as proof
that they ‘didn’t like’ the film.
The internet has been flooded with negative posts about the flick ever since it premiered, with one user branding it as a ‘bore’ and another claiming
it had ‘no plot.’
Many social media users have also slammed the movie’s final scene, which saw main character
Arthur Fleck (portrayed by Joaquin) brutally
stabbed to death by a fellow inmate.
This meant that the man that audiences had been watching over the course of the two movies was never
the Joker at all, but in fact, the infamous villain from the
Batman series was really just the random inmate who
killed Arthur in the last moments of the film.
The shocking twist left numerous viewers unsatisfied, and
they took to social media to share their frustration.
While chatting with Good Morning Britain last week, the
two stars were asked if the movie turned out to be ‘everything they expected’

‘That ending? It’s so bad that not only it ruins Joker 2 but also the first Joker for the audience,’ read
a fourth tweet.
‘The Joker had so much potential but that f**king ending ruined everything,
‘ a fifth said.
The Todd Phillips-directed musical serves as a follow-up to the 2019 box office hit, which was simply
titled Joker.
The first film grossed over $1 billion and at the time was the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time.
It received 11 Oscar nominations – two of which it won.
The sequel, however, has already been much less successful.
It had a lackluster $40 million debut at the box office in its first weekend, and has a low rating of 33 percent and 31 percent
on Rotten Tomatoes.
‘Undoing much of the goodwill from its predecessor, the sequel convolutes what could have
been a unique character study into a bloated encore that goes out
with a whimper,’ reads one review.
Another critic wrote, ‘This movie is a disjointed mess and a waste of time.
It’s just tired, not particularly interesting, but it does look good from a production design standpoint.’

Euphoria star Barbie Ferreira looked fantastic on Thursday in New York City.
The beauty appeared much slimmer than she did when she
came to fame as she dropped a drastic amount of weight

Barbie was in 16 episodes of Euphoria from 2019 until 2022.
After that she appeared in an episode of Robot Chicken in 2022 and then had the role of Nessie
in the movie Nope.
The star has two films in post production: Faces Of Death and
House Of Spoils.
Four years ago she talked about her ‘crippling anxiety,’ ‘depression issues, eating issues,
paranoias,’ and the other ‘weird things’ she insists are a result of the internet.
She talked to Cosmopolitan, where she gets candid about mental health — and the pressures and world events that have negatively impacted her generation.
‘As an elder Gen Z, we’ve gotten our fair share of bad times,’ she said.
‘I mean, my first day of kindergarten was 9/11. We were the guinea pigs
of the internet — you’re 11, and the darkness of the entire world is
just packed into your computer and you’re scrolling through
it.
‘That had to do something to my brain,’ she went on.

‘I mean, I got crippling anxiety. A lot of depression issues, eating issues,
paranoias, and just weird things that I’m one thousand per cent certain are from the internet.’
The star also admitted to working through a Juul addiction.
‘I don’t know if we’re designed to do that… to chat
online with strangers when you’re nine. God knows who
I was talking to,’ she said.
Feeling things deeply, though, may have helped her career.
Barbie says she was an ’emotional’ and ’empathetic’ kid, which led
her to acting.
Barbie also said the country has become a more ‘hateful’ place.
That contributed to a lot of ‘sadness’ and ‘mental neuroses,’ particularly
in younger people.

‘In the years since Trump was elected, I’ve noticed how popular
very, very hateful beliefs are,’ she said.
‘It’s a disservice to oneself to think that everyone thinks the way you do.
It’s more apparent now than ever in my life that I am living in a different world than a lot of people.
‘We think we’re the greatest country, we think we’re perfect, we think we’re the
land of the free, but inherently, we’re not. We’re disillusioned
about the country.
‘I think that’s where Gen Z gets a lot of the angst and the sadness and the mental neuroses.
We still haven’t reckoned with this.’
In the interview Barbie also discussed her role in the new film Unpregnant,
a comedy about abortion.
‘Normalizing abortion is what we have to do,’
she said.
‘Society puts this pressure on people who are getting abortions,
that they should feel a lot of guilt and shame and really emotional about it.
Most people are just relieved.’
