    The follow-up to the Oscar-winning 2019 film, starring Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur Fleck (Joker) and
    Lady Gaga as Lee Quinzel (Harley Quinn), faced negative reviews from critics before its October
    4 release and flopped at the box office

    ‘And then I think, ‘What if we went the other
    way,’ and now they have Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga tap dancing to a
    point where it’s insane.’

    He continued: ‘It has no plot. We would sit there, me and these other guys were all dressed in these security outfits because we’re working at the Arkham Asylum, and I would turn to one of them
    and we’d hear this crap and I’d go, ‘What the f*** is this?’ And they’d go, ‘This is
    going to bomb, man.’ I go, ‘This is the worst thing I’ve ever seen.’

    ‘We were talking about it at lunch, and we’d go, ‘What is the plot?
    Is there a plot? I don’t know, I think he falls in love with her in the prison?’ It’s not
    even hate-watchable. That’s how terrible it is.’

    Despite the negative reviews a number of fans of the sequel took to social media after its release last
    month to defend the sequel to Todd Phillips’ 2019 motion picture.

    The film debuted to a paltry $40 million at the domestic
    box office, good enough for the weekend’s top spot,
    but less than projections, and half that of its predecessor.

    Amid the early returns, a number of fans took up for the movie and its cinematic depth, in breaking away from the cookie cutter nature of sequels to introduce a musical element not present in the first film, with Lady Gaga joining the franchise.

    ‘Joker 2 was amazing,’ one user said, adding that it was
    ‘100% as divisive as people are making it out to be.
    I love that the film didn’t try to be a traditional sequel, and fully committed to the storytelling they presented.
    It never deviated to be a film full of Easter eggs or any other crowd pleasing aspects.’

    Another user said, ‘I kinda loved Joker 2. I loved how
    it was structured as a meta-exploration of the first film’s fandom
    and the musical elements were a lot of fun.’

    Gaga, 38, is reportedly confused at the lack of love for her turn as Harleen Lee Quinzel, aka
    Harley Quinn, alongside Joaquin Phoenix, 49, as the Joker – a
    role that won him the best actor Oscar in 2019 – in the wake of the standing ovation it received at the Venice Film Festival last month.

    ‘Gaga is surprised by the response to Joker 2 and is shocked that people
    don’t love it after the response it received from critics
    before it premiered,’ a source exclusively told DailyMail.com. 

    ‘She put so much heart into the movie and has so much respect for the DC comics fan base.’

    They added: ‘Her team is quietly looking at other projects they can roll out as they want to move
    on this from as quickly as possible.’

    It comes after lead star Lady Gaga was left ‘disappointed’ at

    Do Greens and crossbenchers who claim that transparency and integrity is
    at the heart of their reason for entering Parliament in the first place hear themselves?

    In the past few days they have mounted self-serving arguments against proposed electoral reforms that the major
    parties look set to come together to support.

    The reforms include caps for how much money wealthy individuals can donate, caps on the amount candidates can spend in individual electorates to
    prevent the equivalent of an arms race, and a $90million limit
    on what any party can spend at an election – actually less than the major parties currently spend.

    The proposed new laws also include lower disclosure thresholds
    for donations, thus increasing the transparency of who makes political donations in the first place.

    So the wealthy wont be able to hide behind anonymity while using their
    cash to influence election outcomes – and the extent to which they can use their wealth at all will be limited.

    The bill will further improve transparency by also increasing
    the speed and frequency that disclosures of donations need to be made.

    At present we have the absurd situation in which donations
    get made – but you only find out the details of who has given what
    to whom many months later, well after elections are won and lost.

    In other words, what is broadly being proposed will result in much
    greater transparency and far less big money being injected
    into campaigning by the wealthy.

    Teal Kylea Tink claimed the major parties were ‘running scared’ with the policy and warned the reform would ‘not stop
    the rot’ 

    Greens senate leader Larissa Waters (left) fired a warning shot – saying if it serves only
    the major parties ‘it’s a rort, not reform’. Teal independent ACT senator David Pocock (right) said: ‘What seems to be happening is a major-party stitch-up’

    Anyone donating more than $1,000 to a political party, as
    opposed to $16,000 under the current rules, will need to disclose
    having done so. And how much they can donate will be capped.

    Yet the Greens and Teals have quickly condemned the proposed new laws, labeling them a ‘stitch-up’, ‘outrageous’ and ‘a rort, not a reform’. 

    They have lost their collective minds after finding out that Labor’s proposal just
    might secure the support of the opposition.

    I had to double check who was criticising what exactly before even starting to
    write this column.

    Because I had assumed – incorrectly – that these important transparency measures stamping out the influence of
    the wealthy must have been proposed by the virtue-signalling Greens
    or the corruption-fighting Teals, in a united crossbench effort to drag the major
    parties closer to accountability.

    More fool me.

    The bill, designed to clean up a rotten system, is being
    put forward by Labor and is opposed by a growing cabal of crossbenchers.

    It makes you wonder what they have to hide. Put simply, the Greens and
    Teals doth protest too much on this issue.

    Labor is thought to be trying to muscle out major political donors such as Clive Palmer

    Another potential target of the laws is businessman and Teal funder Simon Holmes à Court

    The major parties have long complained about the influence the likes of
    Simon Holmes à Court wields behind the scenes amongst the Teals. 

    And we know the Greens have taken massive donations from the
    wealthy in the past, contrary to their irregular calls to
    tighten donations rules.

    Now that tangible change has been proposed, these bastions of virtue are running a mile from reforms that will curtail dark art of
    political donations.

    The Labor government isn’t even seeking for
    these transparency rules to take effect immediately, by the way.
    It won’t be some sort of quick-paced power play before the next election designed to
    catch the crossbench out.

    They are aiming for implementation by 2026, giving everyone enough
    time to absorb and understand the changes before preparing for them.

    Don’t get me wrong, no deal has yet been done between Labor
    and the Coalition. I imagine the opposition want to go
    over the laws with a fine tooth comb.

    As they should – because it certainly isn’t beyond Labor to include hidden one-party advantages in the proposed design which
    would create loopholes only the unions are capable of taking advantage of,
    therefore disadvantaging the Coalition electorally in the
    years to come.

    But short of such baked-in trickiness scuttling a deal to get these proposed
    laws implemented, the crossbench should
    offer their support, not cynical opposition, to what is
    being advocated for.

    They might even be able to offer something worthwhile that could be
    incorporated in the package.

    To not do so exposes their utter hypocrisy and blowhard false commentary
    about being in politics to ‘clean things up’.

    Shyamalan recently opened up about that film’s impact on his
    career in an interview with People.

    ‘At this point, there’s so many generations of people that have
    watched [my] different movies,’ the director said.

    He added that some, people ‘only know me from [2015 movie]
    The Visit from then on, so they don’t even know about
    The Sixth Sense. So when I think about that, it’s wild.’

    ‘Each movie, I feel this way — that I don’t know if it’ll ever get made.
    I don’t know if I’ll ever get to make another one… “If this is the last one, I want it to just represent me,”‘ he continued.

    Heath Ledger’s 2008 portrayal of The Joker was M. Night’s inspiration for his costume this year

    Shyamalan, who was born in Mahé India but grew up in Penn Valley, Pennsylvania, released two films
    in the 1990s before The Sixth Sense.

    That set off a string a big hits for the filmmaker that includes Unbreakable (2000), Signs (2002)
    and The Village (2004), that ultimately ended
    with the release of Lady In The Water (2006), which barely covered
    the $70 million budget.

    His biggest box office success was with The Sixth Sense,
    grossing $672.8 million while working with a $40 million budget
    25 years ago.

    To date, the film made $6.6 million on its first day, including
    an estimated $2.2 million from the Thursday night previews.

    Google searches for ‘tights’ are up by 115% since the temperatures first dropped,
    and at high-street favourite M&S two pairs are sold every minute.

    So what styles are we buying?

    The top spot is claimed by the retailer’s 60 Denier Body Sensor
    Tights (a handy three-pack that sells for just £8 and is available in a
    black, navy and brown). The 40 Denier Body Sensor Tights (£8 for a three-pack) are
    second favourite, followed by the 30 Denier Body Sensor Tights (£8 for a three-pack).
    The fourth most popular pair is the 60 Denier Magicwear Opaque Tights (£14 for a
    two-pack), and the top five is rounded out by the 100 Denier Magicwear Opaque
    Tights (£14 for a two-pack).

    These are the number one selling tights at Marks & Spencer

    M&S believes the decision between opaque and sheer tights should be based on the formality
    of our outfit. ‘Opaque black tights will go with basically everything.
    Often said to clash with black; blue or brown hues
    are also an option.’

    ‘Sheer tights are great for more formal occasions and warmer temperatures,
    as they provide a lighter and more breathable option,’ the high street giant added.
    ‘You can achieve that elegant, barely-there look with a little extra coverage.’

    Similarly, intricate patterns, logos and glitter are best
    suited for evening looks, says M&S. ‘For a daytime or office look, stick with
    polka dots or diamond patterned tights, or if you’re
    looking for some added cosiness, try cable-knit tights for some subtle
    texture.’
