In an apparent snub by Phillips, the opening sequence of the film
does not include a DC Studios logo.
A Warner spokesman added that a DC logo appears at the
end of the Joker sequel, while Phillips declined to comment to the
publication.
Several frictions are said to have developed between Phillips, DC and Warner- with claims that Michael DeLuca,
Chairperson of Warner Bros. Entertainment, and CEO Pamela Abdy seemed ‘unwilling’ to
say no to Phillips due to his huge past successes.
It is claimed Phillips would ‘only’ speak with DeLuca and Abdy
rather than Gunn and Safran – who took control of DC two months
before production began on Joker 2 in December 2022.

for the studio but Phillips fueled rift speculation when he told a reporter:
‘With all due respect to them, this is kind of a Warner Bros.

Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav also
met with Phillips shortly after WarnerMedia and Discovery merged in April 2022 and was ‘open to
filming in Los Angeles if the director would make the sequel at a lower price point.’
The studio wanted to film in London which would have cost around

A source directly involved with the film recently shared: ‘The one thing about genre stuff: If you don’t listen and pay attention to
what the fan expectations are, you’re going to fail’; director Todd Phillips

A Warner spokesman told the publication the studio ‘supported the

He also worries about the flow of undocumented migrants that have
entered the country from Mexico during the Biden-Harris
administration.
“People that are entering the United States illegally… should be sent back to where they came from,” he said.
“My grandparents migrated from Mexico to the United States, and they did it the right way.”
So he plans not only to vote for Trump, but to back the proposal
to let local law enforcement detain, arrest and prosecute anyone suspected of
having entered the country illegally — powers normally reserved to the border police who work for
the federal government.
“I know people that work for the Border Patrol, and they’re really upset because this current administration has really tied their hands up. They’re not really able to do anything,” Lopez said.

referendums as offering an opportunity to mobilize more
people to vote — on ballot questions at the very heart of the two presidential campaigns.

But the referendums may not have the clear impact on the race
for the White House that activists hope.
Polls show Trump and Harris running neck-and-neck in Arizona,
with the Republican holding a very narrow lead.
Both ballot questions, meantime, have drawn strong support and both appear likely to pass.
So the abortion issue may not be “helping Democrats in the way that they would hope,” said
Jenny Brian, a professor of bioethics at Arizona State University.
Many Republican women will vote both to protect abortion rights and
to bring Trump back to the White House, Brian said.
Though abortion is sometimes framed as a Democrat vs.
Republican issue, the Republican Party includes “a broad spectrum of views on the topic,”
an issue that also raises conservatives’ concerns about “government interference,” she added.
The same dynamic applies to immigration, with the tougher language on the Arizona ballot question finding support not just among
Trump Republicans but also “moderates and even many Democrats,” said John Kavanagh, a Republican and an Arizona state senator.

grandmother’s enduring legacy and admitted it is an emotional time for her

Namibians returned to vote on Friday in 36 polling stations reopened two days after a chaotic election, set to test the ruling
party’s 34-year grip on power, was marred by technical

Tensions are mounting in the historically stable and peaceful southern African nation where Wednesday’s
election was marked by long delays and labelled a “sham” by the opposition.
Some people waited 12 hours in line to vote in presidential and legislative polls,
billed as the toughest yet for the South West Africa People’s Organisation (SWAPO)
party, in power since Namibia’s 1990 independence from South africa.
Wednesday’s queues were caused by many technical problems, including issues with tablets used
to register voters and shortages of ballot papers.
In some cases, torches used to show up invisible ink had run out of batteries and mobile voting teams had
left areas with voters still in the queues, it said.
Facing criticism from both voters and parties, the electoral commission extended the vote for a second time, giving Namibians until Saturday evening to vote.
In the capital Windhoek, at the only polling station picked to reopen, about 60 people showed up on Friday, including Kluivert Muuondjo who arrived at 4:30 am.
The 21-year-old student said he had waited in line until 11:00 pm on Wednesday but left before
being able to vote as he had exams the next day.

“Everyone will have the chance to vote,” he said.
But because Namibians can vote at any given polling station, he was worried “everyone will flock to one place again.”
The disarray led to angry complaints from opposition parties with some calling for a halt in the electoral process.
Opposition parties were scheduled to meet on Friday and issue a joint statement, according to Christine Aochamus
who represents the Independent Patriots for Change (IPC) party.
Youth unemployment, enduring inequalities and the emergence of a generation born after independence are challenging
support towards SWAPO which has ruled since 1990.
Its candidate, vice-president Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, who could become
the first woman to lead the country if elected, could face an unprecedented second round in the mineral rich country.
“To open only one place in Khomas (the region of which the capital is part of) is absurd,” said
voter Ensley Engermund, who also said he couldn’t vote on Wednesday because of
long queues despite trying four different polling stations.
“Only 1.5 millions voters are registered and we get this chaos?” asked the 49-year-old security agent.
“It was to get people frustrated.”

Kamala Harris and Donald Trump are asking voter to choose between an immigration crackdown and reproductive rights
As their race for the US presidency comes down to the wire,
each major candidate has leaned heavily on a favorite theme
— abortion rights for Democrat Kamala Harris and border
security for Republican Donald Trump.
In Arizona, their ideological duel has reached a white-hot
peak, with both topics the subject of fiercely debated ballot referendums.
And in this key southwestern state — where the billionaire Trump lost
to President Joe Biden in 2020 by a tiny margin of about 10,500
votes — every ballot truly will count.
In the mid-sized city of Tucson, hundreds of volunteers in orange
T-shirts were going door-to-door to try to persuade voters to back a ballot measure to inscribe abortion rights
in the state constitution — and, while they’re at it,
to vote for Vice President Harris.
To Grace Ireland, a 26-year-old activist, the abortion restrictions imposed by several Republican-controlled states amount to “a public health crisis that Donald Trump and the Republicans have created.”
She added, “Democrats and Kamala Harris are trying to push us forward and protect women’s health care and protect our democracy and protect all people.”

Since 2022, when the US Supreme Court ended the constitutional protection of federal abortion rights,
Ireland, a registered nurse, has worked in several states where
abortion is banned or severely limited.
Those restrictions have had sometimes disastrous consequences for women having problem
pregnancies or carrying nonviable fetuses when doctors refuse to treat them.
“Women are going septic and dying because they cannot receive the care that they need,” she told AFP.
– ‘Abortion is murder’ –
As Ireland carries her message to potential voters,
she noted, particularly to young people who may be less likely to vote,
that it was Donald Trump who appointed the three justices who tipped the Supreme Court against abortion rights.

“It’s important to reiterate that Donald Trump and these abortion bans are one and the same,” Ireland said.
But in Tucson there is little unanimity among young voters.
“I do think that abortion is murder,” said Pedro Lopez, a 20-year-old
college student.
“There are cases of incest or rape” that merit exceptions,
he conceded, “but that’s very small.”
He also worries about the flow of undocumented migrants that have entered the country from
Mexico during the Biden-Harris administration.
“People that are entering the United States illegally… should be sent back to where they came from,” he said.
“My grandparents migrated from Mexico to the United States, and they did it the right way.”
So he plans not only to vote for Trump, but to back the proposal to let
local law enforcement detain, arrest and prosecute anyone suspected of having entered the country illegally — powers
normally reserved to the border police who work for the federal government.
“I know people that work for the Border Patrol, and they’re really upset because this current administration has really tied their hands up. They’re not really able to do anything,” Lopez said.
– Mixed impact –
The major political parties see the competing referendums as offering an opportunity to mobilize more people to vote
— on ballot questions at the very heart of the
two presidential campaigns.

But the referendums may not have the clear impact on the race for the White House that
activists hope.
Polls show Trump and Harris running neck-and-neck in Arizona, with the Republican holding a very narrow lead.
Both ballot questions, meantime, have drawn strong support and
both appear likely to pass.
So the abortion issue may not be “helping Democrats in the way that they would hope,” said Jenny Brian, a professor of bioethics at Arizona
State University.
Many Republican women will vote both to protect abortion rights and to bring Trump back to the White House, Brian said.
Though abortion is sometimes framed as a Democrat vs.
Republican issue, the Republican Party includes “a broad spectrum of views on the topic,” an issue that also raises conservatives’ concerns about “government interference,” she added.
The same dynamic applies to immigration, with the tougher language on the Arizona ballot
question finding support not just among Trump Republicans but
also “moderates and even many Democrats,” said John Kavanagh, a Republican and an Arizona state senator.
The 74-year-old Kavanagh is unimpressed by Harris’s recent
toughening on migration, specifically her promise to
maintain the partial closing of the border Biden ordered in recent months.
The vice president, Kavanagh said, is “running away faster from her open-border policy than an illegal immigrant that runs away from the Border Patrol.”

Jennifer Lopez and Meryl Streep were among the stars failing to pick
up nominations for the 83rd annual Golden Globe awards.
Lopez’s performance in the sports biopic Unstoppable was ignored as was Streep’s recurring role in the hit series, Only
Murders In The Building. Both were featured in a list of Golden Globe nomination predictions recently compiled by Variety.
Lady Gaga’s performance in Joker: Folie à Deux also failed to earn a nod; the
film, which flopped at the box office and garnered poor reviews, saw Gaga play Harleen Lee
Quinzel aka Harley Quinn.
Jon M. Chu and Ridley Scott were also surprise omissions from the Best
Director – Motion Picture category, despite respective blockbusters Wicked and Gladiator II enjoying enormous box office success.
The filmmaker behind Dune: Part Two, Denis Villeneuve,
also failed to receive a nod in the directing category.
Saoirse Ronan was another notable snub, failing to receive Golden Globe
recognition for her films The Outrun and Blitz. The film Blitz also
did not garner any nods.

While Lopez, Streep, and others were snubbed from the Golden Globes, a slew of other
stars and projects did receive nods.
Nominations for the 2025 ceremony were announced Monday morning,
with Wicked stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo both receiving nominations for their
work in the musical film.

Bob Thornton win respective nods for Shōgun and Landman.
British Netflix drama Baby Reindeer has also been acknowledged, with the Richard Gadd written show
featuring in the category for Best Limited Series, Anthology Series or Television Motion Picture and its lead actress Jessica Gunning named as Best Supporting Female Actor
– Television.
The show will compete alongside the hugely popular
Ripley, controversial biopic Monsters: The Lyle And Erik Menendez
Story, True Detective: Night Country, Ripley and The Penguin.
During the upcoming awards ceremony, Cheers legend Ted Danson will receive the
Carol Burnett Award for those who have “made outstanding contributions to television on or off screen” and Viola Davis will be handed the Cecil B.

SAN FRANCISCO/SEOUL, March 23 (Reuters) – LG Energy
Solution (LGES), a supplier for electric car makers Tesla and Lucid, said on Thursday
in Korea it plans to invest 1.7 trillion Korean won ($1.4 billion) to build a battery factory in Arizona by
2024 to meet demand from “prominent startups” and other North American customers.
This will be its first U.S. factory to make
cylindrical cells, a type of battery that has been used in Tesla and
Lucid vehicles, LGES said. Construction will begin in the second quarter of 2022, with mass production to start in 2024 with production capacity of 11 gigawatt hours,
LGES said in a statement.
Earlier, Reuters reported that potential customers would include
EV makers Tesla, Lucid and Proterra and Philip Morris , maker of IQOS heated-tobacco sticks, among others.
The report cited people familiar with the matter.
LGES said in a statement that it plans to consider securing additional production capacity at its Arizona factory in the future.
“The Arizona factory could add further production capacity in the future as we are seeing growing demand for cylindrical batteries from various customers, including automakers and power tool makers,” said an official at LGES.
On Tuesday, Tesla Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk said battery production would be “the limiting factor” for vehicle
production in two to three years. He has called on suppliers to
raise production, while Tesla starts making cells itself.
Tesla, Lucid and Proterra did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Philip Morris declined to comment.
Japan’s Panasonic Corp, a Tesla supplier, along with Contemporary Amperex Technology Co Ltd, is
also looking to invest billions of dollars to build a factory to make a
new type of electric vehicle (EV) battery for Tesla, public broadcaster NHK reported this month.
Panasonic is looking at building the factory
in either Oklahoma or Kansas, not far from Tesla’s new Texas vehicle plant,
NHK reported.
Lucid Chief Financial Officer Sherry House told Reuters
last month the company, which has a car factory in Arizona, had signed multi-year supply agreements with two battery suppliers, and the agreement “does have some capacity coming from state-side cell lines.”
She did not identify the companies. Lucid sources batteries from
LGES and Samsung SDI.
LGES, which raised more than $10 billion in its initial public offering
in Korea in January, has announced a flurry of battery joint ventures with GM and Stellantis in the United States and
Canada.
In August, U.S. President Joe Biden signed an executive order aimed at making half of all new

Anthony Albanese has tried to claim his
relationship with Alan Joyce was a strictly professional one between a
Prime Minister and a corporate titan, as he battles claims the Qantas boss was his ‘personal travel agent’ for
free flights and upgrades.
However that characterization of the relationship was at odds with that made by Mr Joyce, who said he was ‘good mates’ with Mr Albanese and had been ‘for years’.
In the wake of the explosive claims that the Prime Minister had Mr Joyce arrange free tickets and upgrades, Mr
Albanese distanced himself from the Qantas chief.
When asked about about their relationship on Sunday Mr Albanese implied it was purely in a professional capacity, having been Transport Minister and
shadow transport spokesperson before becoming Prime Minister.
‘He (Joyce) was the CEO of the national airline … I had the same relationship with him that I have with John Borghetti
as the CEO of Virgin,’ Mr Albanese said.
That assessment was at odds with the many photos showing Mr
Albanese and Mr Joyce apparently greatly enjoying each other’s company.
Mr Albanese and Mr Joyce were pictured in high spirits on the
red carpet at the Qantas 100th Gala Dinner in March last year.
In photos from the event, Mr Joyce proudly walks the red carpet with one arm around the prime minister
and the other around Mr Albanese’s partner, Jodie Haydon.
Just five months later, in August, a smiling Mr Albanese attended Qantas’s unveiling of it’s special ‘Yes 23′
emblazoned airplanes for the Voice referendum.
Former Qantas CEO Alan Joyce jovially walked the red carpet
with one arm around the prime minister and the
other around his partner, Jodie Haydon for a special anniversary event last year
Mr Joyce was seen touching Mr Albanese’s arm, with the PM bursting into laughter.
Even when Scott Morrison was PM, Mr Joyce enjoyed an apparently close relationship with
Mr Albanese as the pair stood close together at the launch of the Qantas’ landmark
Perth to London flight in March, 2018.
During a Senate hearing in September 2023,
Mr Joyce said he had been ‘friends for years’ with Mr Albanese.
Asked about why he gifted Mr Albanese’s son Nathan a membership to the prestigious and exclusive Chairman’s Lounge Mr Joyce
refused to confirm or deny but talked up his relationship with the Prime Minister.
‘I’ve been good mates with Albo for some time,’ Mr Joyce said.
However, the then Qantas CEO refused to say whether he lobbied the Prime Minister
on the controversial decision to lock competitor Qatar Airways out
of domestic routes.
It has since emerged in a new book about Qantas, The Chairman’s
Lounge, by former Australian Financial Review columnist Joe Aston that Ms Haydon is also a Chairman’s Lounge member.

Reports have emerged in a new book Mr Albanese received 22 upgrades from economy from Qantas and he would liaise personally with the former airline boss for them.
Aston also alleged Mr Albanese directly contacted Mr
Joyce while in his various parliamentary jobs to ask for special upgrades for himself or his family.
According to unnamed Qantas ‘insiders’ 11 of the 22 flights
Mr Albanese received upgrades for were ‘privately funded’ and included
overseas trips to Rome, London, Los Angeles and Honolulu, with some being for holidays.
Mr Albanese insisted on Tuesday that the London flights was
for work purposes and all were ‘declared in the appropriate way’.
Opposition Leader Peter Dutton has leapt on the accusations describing
Mr Albanese as being the ‘best friend’ of Mr Joyce.
Mr Dutton told Sky News on Monday night it was ‘strange’ Mr Albanese had directly contacted Mr Joyce to request upgrades while holding a regulatory position in the transport sector.
‘If you’re the Transport Minister and you’re picking up the phone to one of the most
important stakeholders in the portfolio asking for a free upgrade, then again, I think the Prime Minister would be
able to answer those questions more effectively than anyone else because I’m not aware of anyone else
having done it,’ Mr Dutton said.
It has since emerged that Ms Haydon also has membership of the
Qantas Chairman’s Lounge
The Prime Minister denied frequently asking Mr Joyce for upgrades on Tuesday at press conference in the NSW city of Newcastle.
‘The only discussions that I can recall with Alan Joyce certainly
were not discussed through calls – we discussed the first flight from Australia to Dubai on the A380,’ he said.
‘I’ve declared everything in accordance with all of the rules.’
Aston was asked on Monday night by ABC interviewer Sarah Ferguson about how confident he was that Mr Albanese had made calls personally
to Mr Joyce for upgrades.
‘I am very comfortable with my sourcing,’ Aston said.
Asked whether he thought Mr Albanese had been influenced by Mr Joyce’s lobbying to
block UAE airline Qatar domestically Aston said it was ‘implausible’ to think that the Prime Minister’s
office had nothing to do with the decision.

‘It’s very hard to imagine a decision of any political sensitivity in the Albanese government that would not go through the Prime Minister’s office,

in tracks.
Ms King repeatedly denied in parliament the decision to block Qatar was
due to Qantas lobbying her or any Labor colleagues.
Despite Mr Albanese claiming he declared every upgrade received
from Qantas the Australian Financial Review reported on Tuesday that
he failed to do for his former wife Carmel Tebbutt
when the two traveled together.

Sky New host Sharri Markson on Monday night labeled Mr Joyce as ‘basically Albanese’s personal travel agent.’
‘This is all a question of integrity. Most Australians struggle to afford even an economy
airfare. They’d never be able to afford the luxury of business class.
It’s out of our reach,’ she said.
‘Can Albanese truly be impartial when it comes to making decisions about Qantas when he’s been getting tens of thousands of
dollars worth of free upgrades to business class? The revelations puts the decision he made as transport minister
and prime minister under a cloud.
‘Aside from the integrity issues, this revelation is also politically
lethal. Albanese took care to curate a self-image of a housing commission boy who made it.
But now the perception is cementing of a long-term pollie enjoying the perks of public
office.’
Another awkward paradox of Mr Albanese’s apparent close relationship with Mr Joyce is that the Labor leader in a trade
unionist advocate while Qantas attempted to break the power of the Transport Workers Union by sacking 1700
staff during Covid.
The sacking has since been ruled illegal by Federal Court in a case brought by the union with Qantas facing possible hundreds of thousands in compensation payouts.
The friendship however did find one perhaps unlikely defender in semi-retired 3AW radio star Neil
Mitchell.
‘Quick test: upgrade Albo is a bad look,’ Mitchell
wrote on X.
‘But does anybody believe he was seriously compromised
by having Alan Joyce as a bestie? Time to rewrite
rules governing politicians.’
