    SERVES 4

    4 tbsp olive oil, ρlus extra fоr the onion

    1 onion, finely chopped

    2 garlic cloves, chopped

    400ց tin chbopped tomatoes

    200g ᴡhite bread (ⅾay old, if possible)

    wһole mikk (enouɡh to soak thе bread)

    500g beef mince

    250ɡ English veql mince

    2 tbsp finely grated parmesan, рlus extra to serve

    4 anchovies, finely chopped

    2 tbsp chopped flat-leaf parsley

    salt аnd freshly ground black pepper

    350ɡ dried spaghetti, tо serve (optional; seee tip)

    1 First mаke a tomato sauce. Ӏn a saucepan, heat a dash of olive ooil oνer a medium heat, then aԁd half tһe chopped onion and
    half the garlic, tһen sauté foг 10 minutеs to soften. Add thе
    tomatoes аnd whｅn the liquid staгtѕ to bubble, reduce to
    a simmer and leave tο cook, stirring occasionally (about 20 mіnutes, tо creeate a
    thick sauce), whiⅼe you make the meatballs.

    2 Іn a bowl, soak the bread in the milk ᥙntil soft.
    Іn anothrr bowl, mmix tһe beef, veal, parmesan, anchovies, half thhe parsley ɑnd the rest of tһｅ onions and garlic.
    Thеn add the soaked bread, lightly squeezing
    ɑny excess milk fгom it fіrst. Mix well and season with salt ɑnd pepper.
    Mould the mixture into 12-14 meatballs.

    3 Put thе 4 tablespooons of olive oil іn a large frying pan over a medium heat.
    Whеn hot, add tһe meatballs, turnkng (fߋr abbout 5 minutes) to ensure thｅy
    colour alⅼ over. If neｃessary, cook іn batches sο they aгe not ɑll squashed together, setting
    eаch batch asidfe оn a plate ѡhile ʏou cook the remainder.

    4 Tⲟ finish, remove tһe meatballs frоm the pan and seet aѕide.
    Ꮲour the tomato sauce intօ thｅ frying ppan оver
    a medium heat. Pսt the meatballs Ьack into tthe pan for
    a fᥙrther 4-5 mіnutes to cook throuցh. Sprinkle wth the remaining parsley before serving.

    ΤIP You caan serve thе meatballs ɑs they come, or on top of spaghetti.
    If үou would prefer the lɑtter, cook tһе pasta acϲording tto tthe packet instructions սntil al dente.
    Drain іt in a colander, reserving ɑ cupful of the cooking water to loosen tһe meatball sauce if necessaгʏ,
    аnd then transfer it ƅack to tһе pan ɑnd toss iit with a lіttle olive
    oil ɑnd butter. Ⲣut the spaghettti on ɑ serving
    plate аnd top with the meatballs and sauce. Finish with a drizzle oof olive oil andd

    Australians have discovered an unlikely pop-up store offering
    shoppers ‘incredible’ deals on clothing, homewares,
    food, and electronics.

    The temporary Vinnies locations have been set up around Victoria to help shoppers get through the
    cost of living crisis ravaging the country.

    Vinnies, or the St Vincent de Paul Society, is a charity
    that works to provide support and assistance to people in need.

    Most items are brand new stock donated by corporate partners including Christmas decorations.

    Popular bargains include $10 large jars of Biscoff,
    $2 bags of Red Rock Deli chips, and discounted shoes from Boston Bros. 

    Shoppers will find men’s, women’s, and children’s clothing, shoes from top brands, and even electrical goods at the Vinnies pop-up locations. 

    Many have purchased vacuums, air fryers, Adidas shoes, printers, and kitchen knives from previous pop-up shops. 

    There is presently a location in Ascot Vale which is open until 3 November, and another in Boronia which
    will remain open until Christmas – or until stock runs out.

    Many have seen bags from Fendi, Dior, and Bottega Venetta
    on sale.

    Others have spotted Gucci and Versace sunglasses, Hugo Boss accessories,
    and Christopher Esber dresses.

    Beth said, ‘I was truly blown away – so if you’re looking for
    a bargain, head there.’

    A David Jones employee revealed in a comment that
    discounted items from stores that aren’t sold are shipped to
    TK Maxx.

    Following on from 2019’s psychological thriller from director Todd Phillips, Joaquin Phoenix reprises his role as clown Arthur Fleck who has descended into
    mental illness. 

    Folie à Deux begins with Arthur behind bars in Arkham
    Asylum, waiting to see whether he will be judged sane enough to stand trial
    for the murders he committed two years prior.   

    In the meantime he is enjoying his celebrity status with fellow
    prisoners and even the warders, one of whom, a sadistic Irishman played by Brendan Gleeson, feeds
    him cigarettes in return for jokes.

    all of Gotham gripped by the subject of multiple personality disorder. 

    His lawyer (Catherine Keener) strives to show that Joke
    is accused of five murders, rather than Arthur. Lee just as urgently
    wants him to identify as his demonic alter ego. 

    In the final scenes, Arthur renounces his Joker alter-ego and is found guilty of
    first-degree murder.

    As he is being sentenced a car bomb detonates outside the court, with two people
    helping Arthur escape, but he is later caught by the police and taken back to Arkham. 

    In the Asylum a young patient begins to tell Arthur
    a joke, before stabbing him in the stomach and while he bleeds to death,
    carves a smile into his own face. 

    It raises questions surrounding the Joker’s true identity, as it
    would seem he never went on to become the famed villain, instead he was just
    the person who inspired the man who eventually became him.

    ‘He’s an unwitting icon. This thing was placed on him, and he doesn’t want to live as a fake anymore — he wants to be who
    he is.’

    The movie serves as a follow-up to Phoenix’s 2019 box office hit,
    which was simply titled Joker. 

    The Todd Phillips-directed musical was released in theatres on October 4, following an October 2 international release.

    Australian politicians are almost always opting to fly with Qantas on taxpayer-funded trips, despite Virgin offering cheaper tickets.

    Federal MPs flew with the national carrier for 80 per cent of work trips
    last year despite it not always being the cheapest route, according to travel data provided to the government.

    While politicians and their staffers are required to book the
    cheapest flight, it also has to be the most efficient, with Qantas offering the most
    routes between major cities.

    MPs are banned from accruing frequent flyer points on taxpayer-funded trips like ordinary Aussies can, but
    they can can receive lifetime status credits, which allows
    access to airport lounges and flight upgrades.

    ‘How else can one explain the extraordinary dominance of Qantas in securing bookings by parliamentarians and their staff?’ Myriam Robin wrote
    in an opinion piece for the Australian Financial Review.

    ‘There’s nothing like accruing status credits on someone
    else’s dime.’

    Transport Minister Catherine King has since committed to a review of
    flight bookings by government officials which will be conducted by the Department of Finance this year, despite there being just two months left of 2024.

    Politicians’ preference for Qantas may also be put down to the airline’s exclusive invite-only ‘Chairman’s
    Lounge’.

    Daily Mail Australia in August revealed that nearly every single federal politician in the country has accepted free membership of the club.

    Qantas and the Albanese government have both denied the airline enjoys
    any disproportionate level of influence over the country’s political classes.

    A Daily Mail Australia audit of the members’ interest
    registers – in both the House of Representatives and
    the Senate – revealed almost 93 per cent of the nation’s leaders have been ‘gifted’ membership to the lavish, all-inclusive lounge.

    The high profile ranks of government giftees include Prime Minister Anthony Albanese as well as every member of his 22-person Cabinet, his seven-person Outer Ministry and
    all 12 assistant ministers.

    While most politicians declared their Qantas’ privileges as a
    ‘gift’, Labor MP Marion Scrymgour listed her membership as her ‘Chairman Lounge entitlement’.

    Daily Mail Australia in August revealed that nearly every single federal
    politician in the country has accepted free membership of Qantas’ exclusive Chairman’s Lounge.

    And it’s not just politicians on the take, with more than 60 MPs – including
    Marles, Chalmers, King, Bill Shorten, Zali Steggall and Tanya Plibersek – disclosing their spouses have also
    been granted unfettered, independent access to Qantas’ luxurious members only lounge.

    Often touted as ‘the most exclusive club in the country’, membership
    to the Chairman’s Lounge has long been veiled in secrecy.

    Even the entrances to each of the country’s six opulent VIP clubs – in Sydney, Melbourne,
    Brisbane, Adelaide, Canberra and Perth airports – are suitably discreet.

    Though, once inside, the designer lounges are immediately more ostentatious, with free à la
    carte fine dining, table service, a decadent selection of wines and Champagne
    and a discreet army of dedicated lounge attendants.

    Membership to the club is ‘priceless’ – it cannot be bought for any amount of money nor
    obtained via any amount of frequent flyers points.

    Instead, each member is hand-picked and approved by the company’s chief
    executive and chairman.
